RICHMOND HILL, Ontario — Bellini Modern Living, a distributor of modern Italian furniture, is expanding its Canadian custom upholstery line as well as bringing four additions to its stationary upholstery collection for this month’s High Point Market.
The custom collection will include three new tailored sofa designs, two accent chairs and an upholstered bench, all made in Canada to ship to retailers across North America in six weeks or less in a broad range of fabric choices.
“Dealer reaction to our made in Canada custom upholstery line has been overwhelmingly positive, and we have been moving quickly to expand the line,” said Hossein Azimi, CEO, adding, “Dealers tell us the ability to offer modern and contemporary styles coupled with fast delivery is simply a game-changer.”
The domestically produced custom line draws on Azimi’s roots in the manufacture of couture-level upholstered goods designed for the discerning high-end market.

The Fiona sofa — a curvaceous blue velvet silhouette with a tight seat in a distinctly contemporary European style, featuring a Canadian hardwood frame and no sag spring seat and back construction. Suggested retail, depending on fabric grade, is $2,899.
The Marco sofa — a clean-lined Tuxedo look with a down-filled seat and back and channel arms.

The Zurich sectional — a sleek and modern modular pillow-back sectional with three deep seats, slim track arms and plush down-filled lumbar pillows for extra comfort. Retail, $3,399.
For its stationary upholstery collections, Bellini is emphasizing an Italian performance microfiber with suede-like texture and hand.

Avola sofa, by Bellini Modern LivingThe Avola sofa — a chic, clean-lined, geometric design available as either a two-seat sofa (retail $3,499) or three-seat sectional (retail $4999). Features include wide, low-profile arms and a deep bench seat atop white, lacquer-finish steel legs Covered in contrasting light and dark gray Novabuck.
The Claudia sofa — also uses complementing shades of Novabuck, in a plush, European-style silhouette with legs of polished steel and double piping detail. Retail, $3,499.
Azimi said dealers also have asked him to develop Novabuck selections in more traditional American styles. “The key difference in Italian and American upholstered furniture styles is that Italian designers always use two seat cushions on sofas that seat three people, while American designers typically use three seat cushions on sofas that seat three.”
With this in mind, Bellini is introducing the contemporary Sorrento, a high-back, three-seat/three-cushion sofa design with flared arms in seafoam green Novabuck (retail, $2,899), and the dark blue Sicilia (retail, $2,899), a three-cushion, high-back sofa with wide padded arms and a plump silhouette.
Bellini Modern Living is exhibiting in High Point in the International Home Furnishings Center, space H-520.
